The outlander books are awesome. I had to cringe in the first one but they got better. The second book bored me, but just get past it. I am in the last pages of the next to last book. Thrilling if you love history. The author does a really good job of portraying things accurately. -

THIS IS WHAT WITNESSING HAS BEEN REDUCED TO IN 2015
by steve2 inthreads on the newer jw face of public "witnessing" have shared in common the astonishment that jws safely park themselves behind their literature trolleys and exercise incredibly little contact with passersby.
whether the poster is talking about europe or the united states or australia, descriptions here are the same.. literature stands are protective sheilds behind which jws huddle, talking to each other, sipping on their espressos, whilst the disinterested world passes by.
neither the jws nor the passersby catch each others eyes.

I am sorry to say, that in the rural community that I live in they still go door to door. -

Tsarnaev guilty - should he get death or not?
by Simon ini think he probably will (it is the us after all) but i hope he doesn't.
he caused incredible pain and suffering to men, women and children who had never done anything to him.
many died in unimaginable agony, others are disabled for life.

This one is tricky. I don't want him to become a martyr by lethal injection but I don't want him to be in our cushy little prisons either. Maybe, as some have stated, isolation and food that is against his "religion" for the rest of his days? I don't know. If it was a rapist I would say cut off the offending member, if you know what I mean. But this guy killed people in a violent way. I am unsure of what I really would want to happen to him. Tricky stuff. -

Well, I asked a question and his answer blew me away
by Lost his mind infirst time, been lurking for years, but i asked my husband who has been studying for 20 plus years if he has ever questioned those that were "teaching" him.
blew my mind.
i ask him all the questions that you have asked yourself, but he will not ask them.

Well, I just have to say, I love you guys for the support that has been given. On a side note, I asked him for a divorce last night because I couldn't take it any longer. This morning I found him reading my bible compared to the nwt. I don't have much hope though. When asked questions he just spouts jw doctrine. I will post at a later date questions about mediator, he thinks everyone's has Jesus as a mediator even though I have shown him articles that say it is only for the 144,000. -

Brother Jeremy, after reading more I just have to call you an asshole. You have no idea what my life is like instead of the few snippets I have wrote. You are just the same judgmental bastard I would like to avoid. Holier than thou crap. You know best crap.
sorry to the rest of you, he really pissed me off.

Mrs. Flipper, since I do live inCalifornia, I would love to meet you. It only takes me 6 hours to get there. I am continuing to read the post as I go, so the disjointed comments from me, well just ignore it. -

Brother Jeremy, there are some many things I could say to you right now, but it would not be polite. But, bite me. -

Mr. Flipper, my husband was basically raised by his sister and brother in law. The brother in law is the one that converted the sister to witness land. Hubby's parents were not very parent like. The sun and moon rise and fall upon these people. They literally can do no wrong even when I can show proof of it. -

Steve2, thank you for making me laugh. It was either that or cry! And thank the rest of you for all of your responses.
For the last 2 years I have been printing old and new magazines showing him they stupidity of these people. It hasn't made a difference. I told him when I started showing him all of the stuff I had compiled that is was my fault that I let I get this far and that I thought he was more intelligent than that. Probably not the best way to put it! I had studied with these people on 3 different occasions just to see what it was all about. That was enough for me to know that they were nuts and I thought he would be able to come to that realization as well. Wrong!
I have told him that if he gets baptized I will leave. I have a hard enough time dealing with him now, I have no idea what it would be like in full blown cult mode.
i have managed to keep him away from meetings for 2 years but he still reads their crap daily. They will not come to the house anymore because I ask to me questions and told them they were liars the last time they were here. I asked them who their mediator was and they said Jesus and I said they were either lying or not reading their own literature. The elder called me a hateful woman and said he would not be back. I said that would be glorious. Unfortunately, my nephew was with the elder, and the hubby backs up the hateful woman comment.
so, that is a little more detail of my life with culties!

First time, been lurking for years, but I asked my husband who has been studying for 20 plus years if he has ever questioned those that were "teaching" him. He said no! Blew my mind. I ask him all the questions that you have asked yourself, but he will not ask them. I was born and raised not in a religion, neither was he. But, his sister married a witness follower and was baptized and raised their children in the "truth". What bullcrap. I live on the family ranch with these heathens and about to lose my mind. Never questioned?!?!!?!? And he will not question because the sun and moon rises on said sister and brother in law. I have been married for 26 years and would like to .......I have no idea. They piss me off. I should have left a long time ago. Sorry for my first time rant.
